Dr. Kane is a professor of medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and assistant chair for patient experience within the division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. She also serves as chair of Mayo Clinic Quality Academy’s fellow subcommittee. Dr. Kane, a gastroenterologist and clinical investigator, has been practicing medicine for 22 years. She served as president of the American College of Gastroenterology from 2018 to 2019, chaired the National Patient Education Committee for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation and recently completed a five-year term on the Gastroenterology Specialty Council for the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Kane authored the book IBD Self-Management, published by the American Gastroenterological Association. In addition, Dr. Kane is co-author of Mayo Clinic on Crohn’s Disease & Ulcerative Colitis, published by Mayo Clinic Press. She has written more than 200 chapters, articles and reviews, and she serves in other editorial roles.
