Focal therapy approaches can be used for localized cancer, which targets the cancer specifically while sparing the rest of the prostate and surrounding structures. However, for disseminated forms of prostate cancer, more aggressive treatment strategies may be necessary, such as removal of the entire prostate or radiation to the entire prostate.
The treatment chosen ultimately depends on the biology of the cancer, patient-related factors, and patient preferences.
